Pale's 'concept' EP, released in August 1995, was critically praised and warmly received by their audience, which appreciated the band's desire to grow and change. On this release they unveiled a depth and range that few of their peers could match, proving that ambition and talent could combine into something quite significant. Every track has depth, context and a deep intelligence, and the whole is definitely more than the sum of the parts. Even the booklet, illustrated by Ann Marie Scott, was simple yet thoughtful and beautiful of itself.
