about

Godnose started in 1994. Tim and Ben had been in Brisbane hardcore punk band Anger In Motion, before which Tim had played in Sir Johke and Ben was in BLOT. Brian was an old school mate of Tim’s who had played in The Sidekicks (Brisbane) and Cardinal Puff (Toowoomba), and a prog-rock band called Arkham in Scotland.

Over the next 11 years and various lineups, Godnose released five albums on Bullpit Records (Brisbane), Trial and Error (Melbourne) and Hydropunk (an offshoot of the Resin Dogs’ Hydrofunk imprint). The band played often in and around Brisbane, toured several times to Lismore, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide and undertook two European tours (2001 and 2003), playing in England, Wales, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The original release was a run of 30 cassettes and was put out sometime in Feb-March 1997.

The launch gig was more than likely at the Melbourne Hotel, West End. There were subsequent runs of 30 tapes in May and October of that year.

Thanks to Pete Snappa for digitising the original cassette format for this online re-release. Thanks to Josh Murphy of the mighty Flangipanis for prompting this project and to John Russell of 4000 Records/Brisbane Music Graveyard for making it happen.
