about

Pale's 1996 EP was a double A-side of 'I Don't Know' and 'Art Of Mind Control'. The first track was often compared to My Bloody Valentine, and critics loved the darker, riskier direction of the release.

'I Don't Know' was also praised for its uptempo feel and Motown-beat, and the addition of a real 8-piece string and horns section. This EP really showed off the scale of Pale's ambition, which was a bar set high for themselves and their audience; they might have confused some people, but they were never less than sincere and they single-mindedly pursued their vision for their music.
