about

Dogmachine formed in early 1993 with a desire to subject the local music scene with sounds they hadn't heard before. Initially the band had only two members (Mark and I) but we used synths, sequencers and drum machines to flesh out our sound. We were listening to a lot of extreme and experimental music at the time and our love for those artists gave us the desire to do it ourselves and pushed us to form our own band. Early live shows were quite harsh and noisy and polarised audiences. We had a sound you could only either love or hate!

The self-titled cassette Ep was released quite early on - the band had only been together less than six months and done a few scant shows when it came out.

The EP is a rough listen - it was recorded by us at home on a cassette 4-track recorder and the songs were some of the first we had ever written! So it follows that this is more of a snapshot of the inception of a band rather than a professional release and should be taken as such.

Instruments and vocals will be off-key, levels are sometimes all over the place and arrangements are rudimentary. Nonetheless I hope you enjoy this odd artefact of the 90's Australian music scene.
