The Surrogate were a post-metal band formed by Lochlan Watt (previously of Western Decay) and Shaun Burke (of Naked Burn and Prefix) in 2006.

The line up settled with the addition of Joel Keenan and Nick Greenfield. Influenced by the likes of Isis, Pelican, Cult of Luna and The Ocean, The Surrogate recorded splits with Worms of the Earth (MLB) and Willows (Bris), and toured nationally supporting Rosetta (USA).

After a few line up changes, The Surrogate disbanded in early 2010.
